7 Signs Your Business Needs a New Website

1. It doesn't work properly on a phone

More than half of web traffic comes from phones. A site that is hard to read or hard to tap on a small screen loses most of its visitors before they find out what you sell.

2. It's slow

A site that takes more than a few seconds to load loses a large share of the people waiting on it. Google ranks you lower for it too.

3. It looks dated

Visitors decide whether you look credible in a couple of seconds, before they have read a word. An old site answers that question for them.

4. It doesn't bring in leads

If there is no obvious way to contact you, book you, or buy from you, the site is a brochure that happens to live online. A website should be doing more work than that.

5. You can't update it yourself

Changing a phone number or adding a service should take minutes. If it takes a developer and a week of waiting, your site is setting the pace of your business instead of the other way round.

6. Customers can't find you on Google

If people searching for what you do never see you, the site wasn't built with search in mind. As far as those customers are concerned, you aren't there.

7. It looks cheaper than the work you actually do

A site that undersells your service creates a gap between what people expect and what they get. That gap costs you trust before you ever speak to anyone.

All seven are fixable

Usually faster and for less than owners expect.

A modern site that loads quickly and points every visitor at a next step takes care of most of this list on its own. You own it outright, and an optional care plan keeps it current so it doesn't slide back in three years.

If you aren't sure where yours stands, a teardown will tell you what's costing you business.
